On WWE Money In The Bank 2023 premium live event, WWE Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER faced Matt Riddle in singles match with his title on line. In a hard hitting contest, GUNTHER defeated Matt Riddle and successfully retained his WWE Intercontinental championship. Following the match, Drew McIntyre made a surprise return and set his sight on Intercontinental championship by attacking GUNTHER.

At the closing moments of the match, Riddle’s knee and ankle then became a target of the champ with a knee bar. When GUNTHER went for a big splash, Riddle trapped the champ in another triangle. Then, GUNTHER powerbomb Riddle and trap him in another knee bar for the submission victory.
After the match, GUNTHER stands tall with the title but the music hits and here comes Drew McIntyre to a huge return pop. Drew faces off with GUNTHER in the middle of the ring now and they have words. GUNTHER mushes Drew back. Drew drops him with a Glasgow Kiss headbutt, then a Claymore Kick. Drew is fired up now as fans go wild. Drew raises the title over GUNTHER and then poses.
