5 Surprises that may happen for Money in the Bank contenders replacement
RAW and SmackDown are still soldiering on despite all that’s been happening around the world and I must say that whatever you may think about the quality of the shows, the company has to genuinely be commended for their perseverance. It takes guts to do shows while the world is in lockdown mode.
But without a live audience present, the audience sitting at home may not feel the energy that makes a WWE segment special, in my opinion. And the best way to overcome this would be to fill up the program with surprises galore, as any TV show would.
So, let’s look at 5 surprises that could potentially happen on this week’s show and turn the product upside down, as a result.
5. Apollo Crews is beaten up in the backstage area, Randy Orton returns to take his place
If you notice the three men that qualified on last week’s show, they are all babyfaces. And it is really weird of WWE to have three babyfaces in such a high profile match, and potentially only have King Corbin join the pack as a heel. What if Apollo Crews is taken out in the backstage area by an unknown assailant?
And then the question of who did it could play out over weeks while Randy Orton could return after his clash with Edge to take Apollo Crews’ place. Orton’s arrival will make things very interesting in WWE and a potential feud with Apollo Crews would launch the younger man into the stratosphere. By missing out on this match, he may become a bigger star than ever.
As for Orton, he could maybe go on to feud with the likes of Drew McIntyre in due course of time, and maybe even win the contract to have The Scottish Psychopath looking over his shoulder at all times.
4. Liv Morgan turns heel
It is very clear that Liv Morgan is being given quite the push right now. One wonders if she is next in line for Becky Lynch before someone like Shayna Baszler steps up to the plate again or maybe Nia Jax does.
I doubt that Liv Morgan will be given a run with the title but she could have a short little feud with The Man that culminates at Money in the Bank or maybe even continues for a while after that. And because of the same reason, we could potentially see her turn heel on this week’s show to potentially take the feud into high gear.
Liv Morgan could potentially show her heel side by unleashing a flurry of assault over an enhancement talent or even cheating to win on this week’s episode of RAW. And yes, she could then go on to potentially attack Becky Lynch from behind, maybe not on this week’s episode but in a subsequent one making her match at Money in the Bank for the RAW Women’s title official.
3. Asuka confronts Nia Jax for hurting her friend
The whole internet is abuzz about the botch from Nia Jax that almost decapitated Kairi Sane. While WWE can choose to shy away from the same, they could also potentially make a storyline out of this.
Asuka and Kairi Sane are a tag team unit known as The Kabuki Warriors who also held the Women’s Tag Team Championships for a spell. So, there is no chance at all that Asuka will be okay with Nia Jax’s actions that nearly ended her best friend’s career.
Asuka vs. Nia Jax would make for a very interesting confrontation because of how strongly the two women have been booked thus far. There is no way to determine who would come out on top in a one-on-one contest.
But in this particular instance, they could technically make the Money in the Bank match seem even bigger thanks to this sub-plot going on during the clash. And this could be a feud that continues all through the summer months until one of them is ready to face Becky Lynch.
2. Zelina Vega invites Aleister Black to join her stable
Sportskeeda’s own Korey Gunz and Tom Colohue went into great detail about the Zelina Vega experiment from WWE on this week’s Dropkick DiSkussions podcast. In case, you have some time to spare, it may be a great idea to check out their opinions in the link shared above. Many feel that Zelina Vega is the MVP right now based on just how much she is featured on WWE RAW.
As some of you already know Aleister Black is married to Zelina Vega in real life. Vega is portrayed as someone who is a business manager who signs the most promising talents to her ever-growing stable of heels. And there has been no one more impressive than Aleister Black in recent times considering that he is an individual who’s won a lot more matches than he has lost ever since he first showed up on RAW.
It could lead to a feud between Zelina Vega’s stable and Black that should play out in an entertaining manner over the coming weeks.
1. Drew McIntyre is attacked on the ramp by Seth Rollins
If you’ve not heard Sportskeeda’s exclusive interview with Drew McIntyre yet, I recommend that you do so right away. The contract signing between McIntyre and Seth Rollins is scheduled to take place on this week’s show.
As we have seen in the past, the contract signing segment is usually a great indicator of who is eventually going to win the eventual big match. The man or woman left standing tall before the pay-per-view is usually not the person who comes out on top in the eventual match.
There is no way that Drew McIntyre is going to lose his title so soon after winning it and even Seth Rollins can potentially suffer a loss or two right now, because, all said and done, he is one of the top stars on RAW. So, with that said, I can totally imagine Rollins taking McIntyre out on the ramp.
