At Summer Slam Drew McIntyre successfully defended his WWE Title. But after that he was viciously attacked by Randy Orton and was admitted in hospital.
This week on Raw we have seen Randy Orton came out victorious in #1 Contender Threat Match for WWE Title by defeating Keith Lee and Seth Rollins. And earned opportunity to challenge Drew McIntyre for his WWE Title at Clash of Champions PPV.

Tom Colohue reported that feud between Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton will be the long term feud. It will continue after Clash of Champions and will go on until Survivor Series.
Randy Orton was always going to get this rematch because the match between Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton which is now booked for Clash of Champions is supposedly part of a long term feud that will likely run into Hell in a Cell as well and finish around Survivor Series time.
