Bayley Explains Why She Turned Heel In WWE
Welcome to Sports Arenaa WWE News!!!!!!!!!!
WWE Smackdown superstar Bayley has been a face since her debut and last year she shocked everyone by turning heel and helped her former best friend Sasha Banks to attack Raw Womens Champion Becky Lynch.
Former Smackdown Champion Bayley recently appeared as guest on The New Day: Feel The Power podcast and explained why she decided to turn heel in WWE.
Bayley said that she has been a babyface for longtime and felt like it was time to change her character due to her age and where she was in her career. She was grown up as bubble babyface and winning title matches at NXT and also been a locker room leader once Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch called up to main roster. So, she thought it was time to change and don’t want to be the same character for rest of her career.
“I think because I did that (babyface) character for so long, as much as it was me, I felt with my age and what I was doing in my life and where I was in my career, literally growing up starting as a super bubbly babyface, that I was in awe to be there. I was like a little kid with a ponytail. But I felt myself growing up from having these championship matches in NXT, to winning the title in Brooklyn, to being the leader of the locker room once Charlotte, Sasha, and Becky got called up. It was a real gradual growth. It took a couple years, but it was time for a change and I didn’t want to be the same character for the rest of my career.” (H/T: WrestlingNews)
Bayley revealed that she cried when she lost her Smackdown Womens Championship to Charlotte Flair in last year’s Hell In A Cell PPV and after that she thought that doesn’t want to come back as same person. So, she really fought for the change to take her career to a different direction.
“I was like, I can’t come back as the same person. I really fought for the change to take my career in a different direction.”
The Two Time Smackdown Champion said that it was her scariest decision but yet it was her best decision. After turning heel, Bayley entirely transformed her character even from her looks.
She carried the entire Womens Divison during pandamic along with Sasha Banks and also became the longest reigning Smackdown Womens Champion, holdin title for 380 days. And her reign came to an end at Hell In A Cell 2020 PPV, where she lost her title to The Boss Sasha Banks.
