Booker T Comments On Matt Riddle’s Name Change In WWE

WWE have recently shortened the Matt  Riddle’s in-ring name to Riddle. The Fightful Select reported that reason for shortening Matt Riddle in-ring name to “Riddle” is to give his character a more serious edge.
Dave Meltzer also gave an possible reason for shortening Matt Riddle’s in-ring name is that to stop the fans getting details of lawsuit filed against him and WWE by independent wrestler Candy Cartwright, when fans Google “Matt Riddle”.

The company made the decision to drop Matt Riddle’s first name, and now he’s just “Riddle.” The story was that they wanted to not have people google “Matt Riddle” and come up with the details of the lawsuit against him and WWE. The decision was made on 10/29 and Riddle said he was fine with it and even preferred it saying Riddle is his name and he’s been called it for most of his life. (H/T: WrestleTalk)

WWE Hall of Famer Booker T recently discussed about the Matt Riddle in-ring name on his podcast and shared his thoughts. He said that it didn’t seem hurting and when everybody think about Matt Riddle then they think the shoot-fighter guy or MMA guy.

I don’t see it hurting those guys or anything like that. Matt Riddle, of course, it’s something he’s been having branded for a long time as far as who he is…you know, Matt Riddle. Matt Riddle recently moved to Monday Night Raw during WWE Draft 2020. On last week’s Raw, he battled Sheamus for a spot in Raw Team for Survivor Series and lost the match.
