WWE NXT North American Champion Johnny Gargano recently had an interview with Rick Ucchino of SK Wrestling and discussed about several topics. During the interview he revealed one thing he left to achieve in NXT and why he aligned with Austin Theory.
At NXT Takeover: WarGames, Johnny Gargano defeated Leon Ruff and Damian Priest to win the NXT North American Title with the little assistance from Austin Theory.
While speaking about his alliance with Austin Theory, Gargano said that he wrestled Austin Theory in EVOLVE a couple of years ago and he always saw his potential that could develop him into big star in future.
“I wrestled Austin Theory in EVOLVE a couple of years ago and I always saw something, even before he was with WWE. I always saw he had potential, I always saw that he could develop into something big in the future. Obviously you look at the kid and he’s got all the gifts in the world. All the gifts I don’t have – I was not built that way. I was not given that gift!”
Johnny Gargano further said that Theory got the all gift in the world that he don’t have but he can help him to mould into big superstar. He also said that he can see same in the Indi Hartwell, who recently aligned with his wife Candice LeRae.
“I feel like I do have a certain gift that I can help teach and help mould. I think the same can be said about Indi Hartwell as well. You look at Indi and you look at Austin Theory, they look like they were made in a lab. They’re the prototype. They’re basically, if you look at them and you’re like, ‘Oh, these guys are the stars.’ You look at them and say, ‘Man.’ You look at their size, look at their athleticism, their strength, everything they have, honestly. They’re first-round draft picks, easily.”
The 3-time NXT North American Champion said that he and Candice were not given that gifts but they can help Austin and Indi to bring out different side that people haven’t seen yet.
“Me and Candice, we were not given those gifts but we were given something else, and we feel like we can make Indi and Austin more complete. And we feel like with our act, we can bring out a different side of Austin Theory and a different side of Indi Hartwell that people haven’t seen on camera yet, and that’s very exciting.”
Johnny Gargano created history by winning the NXT North American Championship three times, where no other superstar won it twice. At NXT Takeover: WarGames, Candice LeRae also won WarGames match against Team Shotzi and won her two out two matches at WarGames.
