This year’s Survivor Series PPV took place on November 22nd, 2020 at Amway Center in WWE ThunderDome. The Raw and Smackdown brands went head-to-head to show their brand supremacy and Raw brand became victorious with four wins in seven matches.
But NXT brand wasn’t been part of this year’s Survivor Series PPV despite of their performance last year, which black and gold brand became victorious at last year’s Survivor Series PPV.
WWE fans also surprised by the exclusion of the NXT brand for this year’s Survivor Series and Triple H explained the reason for NXT not being the part of the show.
Ahead of NXT Takeover: WarGames, The Game Triple H had a media call and revealed the reason for NXT’s absence for Survivor Series. Triple H said that Covid-19 is the real reason for NXT wasn’t included in Survivor Series, as they tried to keep the brands seperated to limit the exposure.
“To be honest, I’m not in every aspect of creative decisions, but I also believe for the creative teams, as they’re trying to build individual talents, they’re not combining things too much. I also believe that COVID and the pandemic situation took a role in that. We tried to keep thing somewhat separated between brands, between Performance Center, between things just to limit that exposure.” (H/T: WrestlingInc)
Triple H also said that they should be a lot of promotional time together to built up the matches for the brands but it didn’t seem to be the right thing with the pandemic.
“You don’t want to just do that out of the blue. You need to build to it. You need to have a lot of crisscrossing and promotional time together, and it just didn’t seem like the right thing to do in a lot of ways.”
