Former WWE Superstar Feels His Close Friendship With Shane McMahon Hurt His Career
The former WWE and ECW superstar Raven recently had an interview with Scheduled For Two Falls and spoke about several topics including his friendship with Shane McMahon.
The 27-time WWE Hardcore Champion had two runs in WWE. He was first known as Johnny Polo in his 1993-94 run with WWE and they he left to ECW, where he revamped his character as Raven. Then, he again signed with WWE in 2000 and used most in Hardcore division until his release in 2003.
The fomer WWE superstar said that he’s very close to Shane McMahon and they always hang out together. But it drew heat from Vince McMahon and Linda McMahon and actually killed his career.
“Yeah that’s true. Me and Shane used to be really tight but we drifted apart. He’d go out with me every night. Big heat with Linda and Vince. The boys thought I was kissing a** for my career but it actually killed my career, giving me heat.” (H/T: WrestlingInc)
Raven also spoke about his friendship with Brian Pillman. In early 90s, Raven also wrestled in WCW under the ring name Scotty Flamingo. He, Pillman and Steve Austin used to ride together and called themselves as comedy trio. He praised Brian Pillman for his incredible vocabulary that helped a lot for his promos.
“He [Pillman] was so funny. Him, me and [Steve] Austin used to ride together and we called ourselves the comedy trio. Pillman had the most amazing working vocabulary. He could pull words out of his ass. I knew what the word meant but couldn’t use them in daily life.” (H/T: WrestlingInc)
