WWE Raw Legends Night ended with big surprise for fans, as we see the WCW Legend Goldberg returned to WWE television after some gap. After Drew McIntyre’s successful title defense on Raw main event, Goldberg came out and challenged McIntyre for WWE Title match at Royal Rumble 2021 PPV.
The show ended with Goldberg pushing WWE Champion, when he confronted him, and both laughed at each other. PWInsider reported that after Raw goes off air, Drew McIntyre hits Glasgow Kiss to Goldberg, which was not aired on television.
It was also reported that original plan to end the first Raw of 2021 is with Randy Orton vs. Jeff Hardy match with legends sitting around, as Orton confronted them earlier on the show. But the decision was changed later in the day to have WWE Championship match between Drew McIntyre and Keith Lee on main event, so, they can end the Raw with Goldberg angle.
“The original plan for the show was for Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton to close Raw but the decision was made late in the day to close with Keith Lee vs. Drew McIntyre instead and do the Goldberg angle.”
WWE also did a splendid job of keep Goldberg return as surprise. It was reported that WWE kept his return ‘very much hidden’ at backstage as current WWE ThunderDome setup in Tropicana Field have plenty of places to hide people before bringing them to WWE TV.
The former Universal Champion Goldberg reportedly hidden at backstage until he made appearance on the ramp, when his music hits and they didn’t even have Goldberg name on the scripts of Raw to keep his return as big surprise.
The Monday Night Raw goes off air with Goldberg challenge to Scottish Warrior and it unknown whether Drew accepts the challenge. WWE is planning to build up the match between Goldberg and Drew McIntyre at Royal Rumble, so, McIntyre may accept the challenge on next week’s Raw.
