Vince McMahon Initially Had Plans To Run Monday Night Raw On It’s Own Venue
Welcome to Sports Arenaa WWE News!!!!!!!!!!!
WWE Monday Night Raw is the television’s longest running weekly show. It was started on January 11th, 1993, the show has changed and evolved so much from its initial days and became the biggest show in sports entertainment globally.
The WWE’s flagship show Raw was started as pre-taped show with the small audience and became the live event with large crowds taking place in different arenas. But due to the current situation it was running in closed arena with ThunderDome setup.
WWE producer Bruce Pichard recently revealed that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon had different plans for the WWE Raw in its initial days.
On his recent appearance on NotSam podcast, which aired on WWE Network, Bruce Pichard talked about the developmental days of WWE Raw. He revealed that Vince McMahon had plans to buy a building to run the live weekly Raw to save the money.
But plans have changed after several weeks and WWE rented Manhattan Center for the debut episode of Raw, as that property became the most expensive one in the country.
“The original concept behind doing Raw was to do a live weekly show to build a small studio arena in Stamford and the concept was to save money by doing that. To tour and then come back to Stamford on Monday and have that studio that we owned. A little arena that we owned, that we could control and ‘this is going to save money, this is going to be revolutionary that we’re not going to go rent a building.”
“Flip that to several weeks later and we’re in the Manhattan Center, one of the most expensive pieces of property in the country and we are just like, ‘holy cow this became a big production.’”
If WWE had gone with its original plans, the whole history of Raw would as changed and produced in it’s own house. But now, WWE had forced into creating new concept, WWE ThunderDome, with virtual fans in closed building due to pandemic, which looks some what similar to the Vince McMahon’s original idea.
