WWE PPV Flashbacks: Royal Rumble 2006 (Jan 29th, 2006) – John Cena Defeated Edge To Win WWE Title
The 2006’s Royal Rumble was the 19th annual Royal Rumble event and it took place on January 29th, 2006 at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida with attendance of 16000. The show featured the talents from both the Raw and SmackDown brands. Total seven matches took place at the show including one pre-show match.
The main event of the show is 30-Man annual Royal Rumble Match with Superstars from both Raw and Smackdown brands, the winner of the match will earn World Title Match of his choice from either the brands. The main title matches are, John Cena challenged Edge for WWE Championship and Kurt Angle to defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Mark Henry.
Other matches are, Micike James faced Ashley with Trish Stratus as special guest referee, Boogeyman faced JBL and Kid Cash to defend his Cruiserweight title.

• Mickie James defeated Ashley in Singles Match with Trish Stratus as special referee
• The Boogeyman defeated John “Bradshaw” Layfield (with Jillian Hall) in singles match
WWE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
John Cena defeated Edge (w/ Lita) via submission in singles match and became the new WWE Champion
WWE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Kurt Angle defeated Mark Henry (w/ Daivari) and retained his World Heavyweight Championship
30-MAN ANNUAL ROYAL RUMBLE MATCH
Rey Mysterio won the annual Royal Rumble Match by last eliminating Randy Orton and earned a World Championship opportunity at WrestleMania 22.
