After two back-to-back losses against Tribal Chief Roman Reigns, Kevin Owens demanded match against Jey Uso for his interference on his matches. Adam Pearce sanctioned that match but Roman Reigns isn’t happy for that match.

After Jey Uso losing that match, Jey Uso and Roman Reigns attacked Kevin Owens and took him out. Following week on Smackdown, Roman Reigns confronted Adam Pearce for giving Kevin Owens match against Jey Uso. Later, Roman Reigns and Jey Uso forced Adam Pearce to win the #1 contender match for Universal Title.

On following week, Adam Pearce and Roman Reigns signed contract but Preace tells that he was unable to compete in the match and named Kevin Owens as replacement at Royal Rumble in Last Man Standing Match.

It was intense match between the Prizefighter Kevin Owens and Head of the Table Roman Reigns. At the end of the match, Kevin Owens handcuffed Roman Reigns in such a way that he can’t stand. Then, referee started to count but Roman Reigns beat off referee.

Then, another referee came out for count but Paul Heyman came in and took off the cuffs. Then, Universal Champion attacked Kevin Owens and put him down by Guillotine Lock. The referee counted 10 and Roman Reigns retained his Universal Title.
