The former Intercontinental Champion Carlito made a surprise return to WWE at Men’s Royal Rumble 2021 match after a decade. He also appeared on following episode of Monday Night Raw, in which he teamed up with Jeff Hardy and got the big win over Elias and Jaxson Ryker.
Carlito recently had an interview with WrestlingInc and revealed the which WWE superstars are more influential in his WWE return. Carlito said that MVP, Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin were the one always throws his name and that ended up calling him to make an appearance at Rumble match.
“A couple of the boys have been talking backstage like MVP, Shelton [Benjamin], Bobby [Lashley], The Hurt Business guys have always been throwing my name around in the back. So I think they’re the ones that got the ball rolling, and then [Mark] Carano ended up calling me and asked if I want to be in The Rumble. It was a good two days.”

The former United States Champion Carlito also revealed that he was initially set to appear on Raw Legends Night but that was cancelled. Then, he was informed that he could be used in Royal Rumble match and he felt that it was great idea.
“‘Why use you on Legends Night when we can bring you out for the Rumble?’ To me, it made more sense. I preferred that. It was a great idea.”
