Festival of Friendship segment one of the huge success segment in WWE in 2017. Chris Jerico and Kevin Owens friendship is big talking point at that time for months. But their friendship ends at festival of friendship segment after Kevin Owens turned on Chris Jerico.
Chris Jerico recently had an interview with Digital Spy and spoke about festival of friendship segment with Kevin Owens. He said that he pitched that idea and got approved months earlier but WWE tried to change everything in it during that night. Then, Jerico said no to them and asked them to trust his vision.
“The Festival of Friendship, something that I had planned out and basically pitched and got approved months earlier, the night of the show they wanted to change everything. That was one of the times when I was like, ‘Absolutely not, we built to this, this is what’s going to work. You have to trust my vision at some point after being here for almost 20 years. Jerico also further stated that AEW has this type of creative freedom and this is the one reason he loves working in AEW.

From then, Chris Jerico and Kevin Owens started their feud. WWE Universe thought that both would face each other at WrestleMania for Universal Title but it didn’t happen as Owens lost his Universal Title to Goldberg at WWE Fastlane.
Instead, Jerico and Owens battled for United States Championship at WrestleMania 33, in which Kevin Owens won the US Title for the first time in his career.
