After seven years, Christian made his in-ring return at WWE Royal Rumble 2021 pay-per-view and fans thought that he would be stick to WWE but surprisingly he signed with AEW. Recently, he also made his debut at AEW Revolution pay-per-view.

The former two-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion Christian recently appeared as special guest on Renee Paquette’s Oral Sessions Podcast and spoke about several topics including his decision to joining AEW.
Christian Cage revealed that he had cordial talks with WWE about potentially rejoining the company. He also said that he talked with Jon Moxley and he shared his opinions. Then, he thought of explore all his options and contacted Tony Khan, then, it all happened quickly. Here what Christian Cage said:
“No, I would not think that at all, to be honest with you [joining AEW after Royal Rumble return]. It all happened really quick. I wasn’t sure how it was gonna go after. All the talks that I had were very cordial [with WWE]. I’m good friends with you, I’m good friends with your husband, Jon, he talked to me and had his opinions and stuff like that.


“It made me kind of think, ‘Okay, maybe I am doing myself a disservice if I don’t at least explore all my options at this final stage of my career.’ I ended up having a conversation with Tony and it escalated very quickly and went very fast. Within a week it was a done deal.” (H/T: SK Wrestling)

Christian also appeared multiple times in WWE before his official in-ring return. He involved in Randy Orton and Edge fued last year and also wrestled in unsanctioned match against Orton, which was won by Orton after Ric Flair hitting low-blow to Christian.
On this year’s Royal Rumble match, he entered at no. 24 and lasted for 18 minutes until eliminated by Teh Messiah Seth Rollins.
