Prior joining to WWE, Big was worked in WCW under ring name of The Giant from 1995 to 1999. He was also the youngest WCW World Heavyweight Champion in history, winning it at the age of 23.
In an recent interview with Chris Jerico on his Talk is Jericho Podcast, AEW Superstar Big Show discussed about several topics. During the show, Big Show said that he was held back in WWE because he wasn’t the company’s creation.
“I wasn’t theirs. I came from WCW. It doesn’t matter [that he only spent four years in WCW]. Jim Ross [WWE’s former Head of Talent Relations] called me after Halloween Havoc and offered me double what WCW was paying me if I’d leave. Me not knowing any better I just said, ‘Well, no, I signed a contract here, so when it expires I’d be happy to talk to you.’ The thing is, I tried really hard to come to WWE first, and then I wasn’t trained.”

Still, Big Show have achieved a lot in WWE despite of wishing to achieve more in the company. He won the WWE Championship twice and World Heavyweight Championship twice. He was also the former Intercontinental Champion and United States Champion. He also won the ECW Championship and Hardcore Championship in WWE.

During the interview, he also revealed that his relationship with Vince McMahon changed 12 months before his departure from WWE. Vince always calls him Big Show but last years Vince started to call him with his real name. Here what Paul Wight said:
“I knew the writing had changed for me and Vince in our relationship because for years I was always Show. In the last year it’s been Paul, so that’s a subtle thing in his mind where he’s already shipping me off to Shady Pines [retirement home], you know what I mean? Paul’s just a guy, Paul’s his friend.”
