Paul Wight recently appeared as special guest on Oral Sessions With Renee Paquette Podcast and discussed about several topics. While speaking with Renee Paquette, Big Show talked about recovering from injures and having match with Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania after his return from injures.
Big Show said that five years back company told him that he will never main event WrestleMania, also won’t main event any pay-per-view and used to get over NXT talent. Here what Big Show said:
“I got the speech five years ago which was a pretty bad speech. I got called into a Talent Relations office and got told that I will never main event a WrestleMania again, I will never main event a pay-per-view again, and I’ll only be used to get over NXT talent. That was said to my face. There’s your fuc*ing inspiration, now go work hurt. Vince didn’t say that to me, it wasn’t him. But nothing gets said to you without… you know, you know where it comes from. So it hurt a little bit, I was like, ‘Really? That’s where we’re at”. Because they had to think about the future. And then I got into shape and had the abs. I made the joke to Vince, ‘When I used to chainsmoke two packs of cigarettes a day and drank Jack Daniel’s like water and weighed 500 pounds, I was a fuc*ing world champion. I got abs and I can’t get a fuc*ing match (laughs).”
During the interview, he also spoke about one if the problem WWE currently has. He said that you need competition in pro wrestling and that helps talent to rediscover themselves. WWE has some much of talented superstars but they’re not able to maximize all of them. Here what Big Show said:
“I don’t care if this pis*es people off or not, but I’m going to say it: you need competition that’s not in the same house. You need another brand, where if someone doesn’t find out who they are on one brand, there is still another company where they can reinvent themselves and try again. I think that’s the problem when WWE was the only game in town. Sure, you had all the talent, sure, you had this great plethora of talent to work with. I think that’s one of the problems that WWE has now is because they have so much talent, that they can’t really maximize on all that talent.” (H/T: SK Wrestling)
