This week on Monday Night Raw, Damian Priest battled Elias in singles competition. Damian Priest got victory against the Elias in 15 minute match, which is the second longest match in the show after Drew McIntyre vs. Sheamus (lasted for 22 minutes).
Instead to booking Priest to squash the Elias, WWE stretched the match to appear Bad Bunny more on TV which would be helpful for ratings because he has huge Hispanic fanbase.
According to the Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE believes that Priest alliance with Bad Bunny had got more extra views for WWE on YouTube and that’s the reason why Priest got longer match on Raw along with his partner Bad Bunny.
“They think that the longer Bad Bunny is out there, the more Hispanics are going to watch. He does do well on YouTube. He does really well on YouTube.” [H/T: WrestlingNews.Co]
Dave Meltzer stated that Bad Bunny’s popularity bought the new viewers to WWE product. And no superstar sold the more merchandise on WWE Shop than Bad Bunny within two weeks. Following his appearance at Royal Rumble pay-per-view, Bad Bunny’s merchandise sales is over $500,000, according to the Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp.
From the reports of past few weeks, it was speculated that Bad Bunny and Damian Priest would team up to face The Miz and John Morrison at WrestleMania 37. Previously, The Miz and Bad Bunny also involved in various backstage segments on Raw.
