The former WWE Champion Rob Van Dam recently had an interview with That’s 90’s Wrestling Podcast and spoke about several topics. He also revealed the initial reaction for Paul Heyman joining WWE.

Paul Heyman and Rob Van Dam made their name in ECW, which was ran by Paul Heyman. Later, ECW was sold to WWE and Heyman moved to WWE. In his recent interview, Rob Van Dam opened up about how he felt when Paul Heyman joined WWE. Here what he said:
“I kinda felt- in a way I think I felt a little sorry for him because I believed that he really didn’t wanna be there and that things had come to that. I didn’t know he was getting paid by them all along, otherwise I would have had a different perspective. I thought this man is eating his hat as they used to say it. And I thought what other choices does he have? There’s no ECW, I didn’t know if WWE had bought WCW at that point or were purchasing it, but either way things had come to that, so I kinda felt sorry for him. Man, he would tell us, the Paul that we knew would never do this, never do this. And there he is, and I just thought man, that just makes him like everyone else. He needs a job but there was a lot more going on behind the scenes than I knew.”

It’s Friday you know what that means.

During the same interview, Rob Van Dam was asked about who should induct him into WWE Hall of Fame, then, he picked Paul Heyman as his first name. Then, he also named Vince McMahon as his second choice.

“It kinda has to be Paul, doesn’t it? I think it has to be Paul. Sabu doesn’t talk very good and on the real Paul is the only real producer-slash-agent that’s ever really had my best interests at heart and understood me and because of that I think it would have to be him, as predictable as that is.”

“You know who’d be a second choice though? Vince McMahon. Vince. . . . [I did not have a good relationship with Vince] when I was there cause I had my head up my a**, you know. I really like the lot. The older I am, the more Zen I am . . . I was intimidated talking to Vince, still am. I don’t have a really good warm relationship like some of the boys do where they can hang out and talk to him. After leaving and wising up he’s become a lot more important to me. He’s the most important person I know.”
