The ‘Icon’ Sting recently had an interview with Bleacher Report and discussed about several topics. During the interview, Sting also revealed the reason why he left the WWE to join AEW.
The Sting’s WWE contract reportedly expired in last year’s May. Few months later WWE removed his merchandise from the WWE Store. In December, The WCW Legend Sting made his debut in AEW and signed a multi-year contract with the company.
Sting said that getting back to wrestling isn’t his goal but his main thought was to have cinematic match against The Phenom Undertaker. But later he realised that it isn’t working out for him.
“It wasn’t a goal of mine to get back in the ring. The only thing I thought I might do is have a cinematic match against Undertaker when I was with WWE. We weren’t able to come to an agreement. Tony [Schiavone] reached out to me and asked if I wanted to come play and let him know. A year later and I thought WWE isn’t working out and I didn’t want to disappear with my tail between my legs. I hate that.”
