This week on WWE NXT, the new NXT Women’s Tag Team titles were revealed by NXT General Manager William Regal and handed it to Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez for winning the Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tournament. But later on the show, they lost the titles to Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart. Previously, WWE had another plans to introduce the Tag Team titles

On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez reported that the company was in works of new NXT tag team titles for a quite some time now. Initially, they had plans to hand the titles to first-ever winners of Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament winners after the final match. But the tournament timing was rushed to coincide with men’s tournament.
It means, NXT Tag Team Titles weren’t ready by the time of NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day event last month. So, company went with the screwed finish for Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai against Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler last week. And, this week they introduced the new NXT Women’s Tag Team titles and handed to them.
But there is no confirmed reason for losing their tag team titles to Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart. But after Kai and Raquel loss, Io Shirai confronted Gonzalez and chooses her as next opponent. So, this maybe the logical explanation behind the immediate title change at NXT.
