The former WWE Champion Chris Jerico recently appeared as special guest on Stone Cold Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions Podcast and discussed about several topics including why he left WCW to join WWE.

Chris Jericho worked initially with WCW, after three years of his run in WCW, he left the company and joined with WWE. He won Cruiserweight Championship four time and World Television Championship once during his run in WCW.
During their interaction in the show, Stone Cold asked AEW Superstar Chris Jericho why he left WCW in 1999 and joined WWE. Then, Chris Jericho revealed that he wanted to work with WWE and Vince McMahon but they didn’t call. Then, he WCW called him, then he thought that if he become big star then they would take him. Here what Chris Jericho said:
“Prompted by the fact I wanted to work for Vince (McMahon). Oh, yeah (wanted to work with McMahon). Always. Always having this plan in mind – keep in mind, I grew up in Winnipeg. We didn’t have WCW there, we didn’t really have NWA. I wanted to be the WWE Intercontinental Champion. I wanted to work for Vince McMahon. I wanted to work in Madison Square Garden, where my father played hockey and I remember watching him as a little kid. Unfortunately, WWE wasn’t calling me at the time but WCW did. And I thought, ‘If I could go there, maybe I’ll become a big star and they’ll take me.'” (H/T: SK Wrestling)

Chris Jericho also stated that he wanted to have a match with Goldberg in WCW but they rejected the plan, then, he decided to leave WCW promotion.

Can you believe that Chris Jericho guy?

WWE threw EVERYTHING at him:

The First Undisputed Champion
WWF/WCW Champion
Intercontinental Champion
Hardcore Champion
European Champion
US Champion
Tag team Champion

And yet he STILL left the company! Sheesh! 😏
