WWE recently released several superstars and the former 6-time women’s champion Mickie James is one of them. It was shocking news for wrestling fans. Though, she was a active wrestler on the WWE roster, company hasn’t been used her.

Micike James had two stints with WWE. During her first run, she won WWE women’s championship six times and left the company in 2010. Later, in 2016, she returned back to WWE but didn’t used as much as fans wanted to see. Now, it was reported that she tried for announcer role in WWE before her WWE release.
According to the Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Mickie James was tried out for a role of commentary team but it didn’t worked out. It was also noted that Mickie James has suffered injuries in the past and also cleared to compete but WWE doesn’t chose her to use.
Micike James not being used and her age factor also maybe the primary reason for her release by the company.
“Wrestling is a cosmetic business, perhaps less now than in the past in some cases and especially for women, but it still partially is. Her not being used and her age made her a prime target to be cut. She did get tryouts to be a television announcer but that didn’t go anywhere.”
Dave Meltzer also stated that Mickie James has been in good shape and looking young. Despite of being released by WWE, there were a higher chances of her getting good opportunity form other promotions.
“She has the advantage of being in great shape and looking young, although having so many years of television, when it comes to outside WWE, she’d have had chances elsewhere under any circumstance.”
