Last year, Murphy was aligned with Seth Rollins as his disciple. But during their feud with Rey Mysterio’s family, Murphy turned on Seth Rollins and involved in romantic angle with Aalyah Mysterio. However, WWE ended that storyline abruptly without any explanation and Murphy was kept off to WWE TV.
Recently, The Best Kept Secret Murphy back to WWE TV and teased to align with Seth Rollins as his disciple but Seth Rollins turned it down. Murphy had couple of matches against Cesaro, with whom Seth Rollins feuding and lost to him.
In an Instagram post, Murphy commented that Rey Mysterio and Aalyah used him. He stated that Aalyah used him to be on TV and Rey Mysterio was jealous of him because he became the new face of Cruiserweight. But WWE later asked him to delete the comment.
According to the Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the former Tag Team Champion Murphy is clearly frustrated by his plight in WWE. Here what Dave Meltzer said:
“Murphy is clearly frustrated by his plight right now. His angle with the Mysterios ended. He in theory is back as a heel although who knows as the only thing he did was try and get back with Rollins and get blown off.”
“So far this year, Murphy, 32, has done two quick TV matches with Cesaro and that’s it, past being a face in a crowd scene of wrestlers like when Rollins came back and the quick interplay with Rollins which was to turn him heel for the Cesaro matches. Given his talent, you can imagine his frustration.”
Currently, WWE had nothing to Murphy from a creative standpoint, despite of gaining lot of momentum from the Rey Mysterio storyline and it’s really frustrating to him. It was also previously reported that his storyline is dropped because of other complications in Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio feud with King Corbin.
