It’s been a long time that Aleister Black was seen on WWE TV. He last wrestled against Kevin Owens in No DQ match, in which he lost. Then, he moved to Smackdown during WWE Draft 2020, since then he wasn’t seen on WWE TV. But WWE actually had plans of Aleister Black to dethrone Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36.
According to the Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, in early 2020 WWE considered Aleister Black and Drew McIntyre to beat Brock Lesnar to win WWE title and both groomed for that but Vince McMahon choose McIntyre over of two. While, Black’s future changed following exit of Paul Heyman as Executive Director.
“In fact, in early 2020, he was one of the two people considered to beat Lesnar and win the WWE title at WrestleMania. Black and McIntyre were both being groomed but the decision was made by McMahon that McIntyre was the most over of the two and he got the title. Black’s fortunes changed when Heyman was removed from power shortly after WrestleMania.”
