On this week’s Monday Night Raw, United States Champion Riddle had a backstage segment with Raw Women’s Champion Asuka. During the segment, Riddle spoke about scooters to Asuka and asked if they were used in Japan, then, Riddle forgot his lines and walked away laughing. After this segment, Riddle’s botch became viral on social media.
On the latest Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez reported that the line isn’t actually planned and Riddle legitimately forgot his lines. It was also noted that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and Executive Director Bruce Prichard laughed at Riddle’s botch.
Alvarez also said that it was actually pre-taped and Riddle forgot his lines during the tape but Vince McMahon and Prichard laughed at that and kept it on WWE TV.
“Well, it was a shoot! Yup, they did not tell him…I haven’t fully figured out the story yet because the story I was told actually doesn’t make a lot of sense. The story I was told was he wasn’t told it was live but [Bruce] Prichard and Vince [McMahon] saw it and they just laughed and laughed and laughed. So, if it was live you can’t redo it. So I’m wondering if what actually happened was a pretape that he screwed up but they loved the pretape so much — the point is what you saw on TV was not a plan. He was supposed to deliver his line.” (H/T: WrestlingNews)

If I’m Vince McMahon, Asuka or anyone in WWE I’m absolutely irate because of this.

Dude straight up just said, “I forgot my line” and walked out of the segment 🤦‍♂️ #WWERaw pic.twitter.com/1I7ZoK6Gnu

At WrestleMania 37, Riddle is going to defend his WWE United States Championship against Sheamus on Night Two. Following the botch, The Celtic Warrior Sheamus took a shot Riddle by calling Riddle a fool for 365 days and posted a video of imitating Riddle’s botch.

An #AprilFoolsDay fool? @SuperKingofBros is a fool 365… 🛴 pic.twitter.com/AKNj6GxdTN
