WWE WrestleMania Backlash 2021: Roman Reigns Retains, Seth Rollins Had Other Plans

Tribal Chief Roman Reigns successfully retained his Universal Championship against Daniel Bryan and Edge at WrestleMania 37 Night Two and had celebrations on following episode of Friday Night Smackdown. It was interrupted by Cesaro but before he speaks Reigns, Paul Heyman and Jey Uso left the ring.

Then, Cesaro met WWE Producer Adam Pearce at backstage and asked for a match against Roman Reigns even it’s a non-title but Cesaro got Jey Uso on main event. That match was ended in disqualification after Seth Rollins attacking Cesaro.

On the Throwback Edition Of Smackdown, Cesaro battled Seth Rollins in a WrestleMania rematch with stipulation that if he wins he would get Universal Championship Match against Roman Reigns, which was made by WWE Hall Of Famer Teddy Long.

On the same night, Jimmy Uso also returned to the WWE TV and been at ringside along with his brother Jey Uso for Seth Rollins vs. Cesaro match. At closing moments, Seth Rollins and The Usos had some tensions and Jimmy attacked Seth Rollins.

Then, Cesaro hits Seth Rollins with neutralizer and pinned him to get title opportunity at WrestleMania Backlash. Cesaro also gained lot of momentum heading into WrestleMania Backlash by taking out Roman Reigns and The Usos on go-home edition of Smackdown.

It was a incredible match up between the two talented superstars. Cesaro put an another impressive performance in the match. Roman Reigns showed his dominance as usual. There are many close calls and submission moves. Cesaro took him to his limits and at some point of time everyone believed that Cesaro would dethrone the Tribal Chief.

At the closing moments, Cesaro applied sharpshooter on the Roman Reigns and Reigns tries to reach ropes then Cesaro turned it into crossface submission in the middle of ring. Then, Reigns uses his power and strikes back at Cesaro, he goes for powerbomb.

Then, Reigns goes for Guillotine lock on Cesaro but he powers up. Reigns hit hard and again goes for submission move. Cesaro tries to break it but Reigns held tight with his leg and Cesaro faded, referee calls for bell and Roman Reigns retains.

After the match, Roman Reigns celebrates in the ring with Universal Title, Jey Uso came out with red flower lei and acknowledged him. Reigns instructed Jey to destroy Cesaro and Jey started unloading on him.

But Seth Rollins came out and went face to face with Roman Reigns, then, suddenly attacked Cesaro. He throws Cesaro over the announce table and hit the few chair shots at his back. Then, he wrapped Cesaro arms to steel chair and twisted it. Seth then hits his wrapped arm to ring post and started laughing. Finally, Seth hits stomp to Cesaro on concrete floor and stood tall.
