On the latest edition of We Watch Wrestling podcast, The Former WWE Writer Matt McCarthy revealed that Vince McMahon had Bret Hart like heel plans for John Cena, where he would be he’s a heel some places and a babyface on rest of the places.
“Vince kept trying to figure out how do we do like a Bret Hart thing? Where he’s a heel in some places, but he’s a babyface in the rest of the places. (H/T: WrestleZone)
John Cena was a babyface on his entire career in WWE. Company pushed him as the top good guy for over the years but at the end fans didn’t sit well. Currently, he was busy in Hollywood and moved to part-time role in the company.
Matt McCarthy also stated that John Cena wanted to be full time heel if WWE had heel plans for him. He also revealed that John Cena had s specific gear for his heel turn.
“Cena was like, ‘If I’m going heel, I want to go full heel,’ and it did get close enough to the point where, and I’m sure he still has this gear, like Cena had gear made for the heel turn, you know? No longer the jorts,” said McCarthy.
“I don’t know what the gear was, but he had specific gear made ready and waiting and then obviously we know it never happened.” (H/T: WrestleZone)

Recently, it was reported that John Cena might be returning to WWE on the July 16th episode of Friday Night Smackdown infront of live fans. And also rumored that he might possibly facing Universal Champion Roman Reigns at WWE Summer Slam 2021.
