Many reports have suggested that 16-time World Champion John Cena will be returning to WWE and will be facing Universal Champion Roman Reigns at WWE Summer Slam 2021. But recent reports suggest that Cena’s plans could be in trouble after announcement of his new movie Argylle, which will commence production in August.
With this many reports stated that John Cena’s WWE Summer Slam return looks slim due to his new movie commitments. Summer Slam schedule to take place on Saturday August 21st, 2021, which could clash John Cena’s busy schedule.
According to the Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, John Cena’s WWE return for Summer Slam was locked in. He stated that Cena is free from his acting responsibilities until after Summer Slam and he would be joining his new movie after Summer Slam.
“No word on when he shows up for television, but Cena is free of responsibilities for acting work at this point and until after SummerSlam. Cena vs. Reigns is locked in as the main event for the show. However, Cena is in a movie called “Argylle,” a spy thriller which will be shooting in Europe in August. It’s possible he could start after or end prior to the date, or even get a few days off.” said Meltzer
Currently, Tribal Chief Roman Reigns set to face Rated-R Superstar Edge at Money In The Bank 2021 pay-per-view with his Universal Championship on line. It will be interesting to see how and when will John Cena return start feud with Roman Reigns.
