On November 13th, 2021, Zelina Vega was released by WWE due to issues with company’s third party rule. This was occurred after Vega’s activity on OnlyFans account, which was went against the WWE’s new rule. WWE Chairman Vince McMahon also reportedly unhappy about Zelina Vega opening OnlyFans account that time. 

Recently, there were many rumors suggesting that WWE is planning to bring back Zelina Vega and finally she made her return to WWE on recent edition of Friday Night Smackdown. Now, we got the more backstage details about Zelina Vega’s WWE return.
According to the Mike Johnson of PWInsider, there were ‘segments of the company’ felt that Vega shouldn’t been released last year. Later, they have long period of back and forth conversations and also WWE Executives apologized her. Then, they made a offer to return her and she decided to sign with the company.
“We are told that even after Vega was released, there were segments of the company who felt she should have been retained and not released,” stated Mike Johnson. “We are told those segments of the company pushed for conversations between the two sides to continue. They eventually did and we are told that after a long period of back and forth conversations, WWE execs apologized to Vega and made her an offer to return. Eventually, she decided to go through that open door and signed back with the company.”
PWInsider also reported that there were differing accounts to when she signed back with WWE but some source told them that it might happen in May or sooner than that. However, all parties opted to keep Vega’s WWE status as secret as company could strategies her return.
“There are differing accounts as to when that happened. One source told me May. Another told me it was much sooner than that but all sides opted to keep it quiet so they could strategize a return.” Johnson added, “Why they waited until now, only WWE could answer but they also signed Eva Marie and had her sitting around for nine months. Vega was backstage last week but had not been at any TVs beyond that in recent months.”
Zelina Vega made her return on Smackdown after Sonya Deville announcing her as second entrant to the Women’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match from blue brand. Following her return, Vega had a match with Liv Morgan, in which she lost.
