Recently, Sean Ross Sapp reported that Adam Cole’s WWE contract set to expire during the Summer Slam 2021 weekend. It was also noted that his contract expired after NXT Great American Bash and he signed a extension contract till Summer Slam weekend. Now, we got some more backstage details.
Fightful Select reported that Adam Cole maintains a positive backstage relationship with higher NXT officials. Both have mutual respect to eachother and shared admiration which could help WWE to retain Cole back to the company.

It was also noted that currently Adam Cole didn’t have a long-term deal with WWE and also company haven’t offered one yet to the former NXT Champion. WWE sources told them that Adam Cole and higher officials struck in verbal agreement after knowing about expiration of his contract. Adam Cole and WWE signed a short-term deal which will enable him to compete through Summer Slam weekend.
