Tonight’s WWE Friday Night Smackdown is live from the Amale Arena in Tampa, Florida. WWE announced one match for the tonight’s show.
Last week, Baron Corbin attacked Finn Balor during the Universal Championship contract signing, which ultimately led to John Cena signing the contract. Now, WWE announced that Finn Balor will take on Baron Corbin in one-on-one match tonight.
Here The WWE Friday Night Smackdown Full Matches And Results With Short Review:
– Tonight’s Smackdown opened with The Boss Sasha Banks making her way to the ring. She says she’s back that means it’s The Boss time on Smackdown. She came for the spotlight she deserves, she created and promises that she will never let anyone to steal that again. She shows us the video of her return on last week’s Smackdown to help Binaca Belair and later turning on Belair.
Banks says she exposed Belair last week and it’s so easy. She is been watching Belair to make mistakes for weeks. Banks continues that Binaca Belair would be nothing without her. There would be no ESPY Award, no chilling with Megan The Stallion, and no WrestleMania 37 main event. Banks futher says that Belair cried before their WrestleMania match because she was standing across from greatness.
Sasha Banks says anyone else would have thanked her for she did but Belair didn’t and she wasn’t grateful at all. Banks sat at home thinking about the disrespect each week and she came back to WWE for one thing – to make Belair pay. Music hits, here comes Smackdown Women’s Champion Binaca Belair.
Binaca standing on the stage and says Banks won’t be standing or talking when she comes and gets her in the ring. Belair dismisses the idea of that she wouldn’t be nothing without Banks and recalls how Banks begged to pick her as opponent after she winning the Royal Rumble match, so that she can headline WrestleMania.
Belair says Banks doesn’t want her to shine, but she’s been shining and representing. Belair steps into the ring and Banks retreats to the floor. Belair taunts her and asks if she’s going to take another 4 months off.
Sasha Banks stands on the annouce table and says she can do what she wants, she wants, because when you’re a legend… Belair interrupts and says Banks is one of the greatest to lace up a pair of boots, and if she wants the title, it’s on. But music hits, here comes Zelina Vega and says this is not happening right now. Zelina Vega taunts Belair and Banks about she is on the line to get the title match. Then, Bianca Belair says she will see Sasha Banks at Summer Slam and tonight she will put her title on line against Zelina Vega.
– Rey Mysterio at backstage with Dominik Mysterio, who is getting ready to face Jimmy Uso. Rey says how they can’t afford a loss as they wants to keep momentum heading into Summer Slam because we want to bring Smackdown Tag Team Titles back to the family. Dominik says he won’t let Rey down and he’s confident he can beat Jey.
– Jey Uso defeated Dominik Mysterio via Pinfall. At the closing moments, Jimmy tried to interfere in the match but Rey Mysterio took him out. Dominik was distracted by Rey Mysterio and Jimmy, then, Jey takes the advantage hits superkick on him. Then, he delivered big splash on Dominik and pinned for victory. After the match, The Usos exits with titles while Rey checking on frustrated Dominik.
– We got the video of how Seth Rollins attacked WWE Hall Of Famer Edge last week. Now, Edge is walking backstage and Megan Morant stops him. Then, Edge talks about Seth Rollins and calls him a rotten, selfish bastard. Edge says when Rollins arrives tonight, he will show Rollins what a rotten selfish bastard he can be as well.
– Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Apollo Crews via disqualification in non-title match. At the end of the match, Commander Azeez pulls out Nakamura and attacked him. After the match, Nakamura fights back and sends Crews into Azeez. Then, Nakamura joins Rick Boogs at ringside and his music hits.
– We got the video package of Summer Slam contract signing for Universal Championship Match and how John Cena signed the contract after Corbin attacking Finn Balor. Kayla Braxton at Roman Reigns locker room and Paul Heyman came out and asks what she wants. She wants to see Roman Reigns to ask his comments about what happened last week.
Heyman goes on about Cena getting into the match, then get some heel heat by taking a shot at Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the NFL. Heyman further says that the SummerSlam contract is a joke and the claim of Cena challenging Reigns at SummerSlam is meritless, and WWE is acting as the ultimate enabler by allowing Cena to get his way into a title shot he doesn’t deserve.
Paul Heyman says Tribal Chief Roman Reigns had nothing to say about John Cena or to Kayla Braxton. Heyman says he’s not in a mood and turns around and we can see Big E standing with his Money In The Bank Briefcase with a smile. Heyman looks alarmed as Big E laughs, then, Heyman returns back to Reigns locker room.
– Tegan Nox defeated Tamina Snuka via Pinfall in non-title match. At the closing moments, Tamina went for Samoan Drop but Shotzi BlackHeart ends up firing one of her projectiles into the ring. Tamina distracted with it, then, Nox took the advantage and rolled up Tamina for pin.
– Zelina Vega at Backstage with Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville, and asks about when she will get her title shot. They says that just because Binaca Belair accepting her challenge doesn’t mean Vega would get the title shot tonight. Deville says Binaca Belair doesn’t make title matches here, she does. Then, Deville tells that if Zelina Vega does well tonight against Bianca Belair, then, she can challenge the winner of Sasha Banks vs. Binaca Belair at Summer Slam 2021.
– Rated-R Superstar Edge makes his way to the ring. Edge says Seth Rollins seems nowhere here and that’s good for Edge because for what he plans tonight on doing Seth, he would be ended up in jail. Edge was willing let the past be past until Seth Rollins costs his title match at Money In The Bank PPV. Edge mentions how it’s like looking himself in a mirror of the past when he looks at Rollins. Edge knows Rollins and he see that this won’t end well for one of them, but it has to end, and if Rollins were here tonight, it would end.
Seth Rollins appeared on Big Screen and laughing. Rollins knocks Edge and says it’s right that he and Edge are lot a like. Rollins says they’re drawn together in this inevitable dance but that’s where the similarities end, because if The Ultimate Opportunist was half the man The Architect is, he’d know you always have to have a Plan B and laughs.
Edge says he had a plan B and says how about they will wrestle for the first time in one-on-one match at Summer Slam 2021. Rollins goes on about how he has Edge wrapped around his finger, and says he calls the shots, not Edge. Rollins goes on that he will think about the SummerSlam match because he has a lot going on.
Rollins futher says Edge also should be thinking about this, about what he’s getting himself into. Seth Rollins taunts Edge about his neck and says his comeback will probably be over after this. Rollins continued that he doesn’t know what kind of future Edge will have as father and husband.
Edge yells at Seth Rollins and tells him to not to bring his family into it. Argument between both the superstars gets heated up and Edge says at the end of the day, Seth Rollins is Edge Lite. Seth Rollins was furious and says he’s better than Edge and its on for Summer Slam.
– Kayla Braxton at backstage with Finn Balor and he says he’s not in good mood. He was this close to signing the Summer Slam contract but Baron Corbin stuck his nose where it doesn’t belong. Balor says Corbin should be minding his own business and staying out of Balor’s. Balor says if Corbin wants to get back on his feet, he needs to learn to have honor and integrity, which Balor will teach him tonight. Balor says when he’s done with Corbin, he has a bone to pick with John Cena for last week’s contract signing.
– Finn Balor defeated Baron Corbin via Pinfall. After the match, Finn Balor takes the mic and says three ago, he would have smiled and took what happened last week but this Finn Balor isn’t laughing. Balor says he wants to face Roman Reigns for Universal Championship and if he has to John Cena to do it, then, he’s willing to go through him. Finn says to pick the place and time…but music interrupts, here comes Tribal Chief Roman Reigns.
Roman Reigns enters the ring and Paul Heyman hands him mic. Reigns says Heyman already addressed his position on last week’s contract signing. He can understand why Finn Balor is upset and why he’s running his mouth about John Cena. Reigns continued that Finn must understand that he tried to help and give him an opportunity.
Reigns tells Balor that when he comes out to Reigns’ ring on his show, keep Reigns’ name out of your mouth. Then, Reigns tosses mic and exist the ring but Balor shoves him out of the ring from behind. Reigns lands on his feet at ringside and turns around, Finn Balor pointing his fingers to Reigns. Then, Reigns approaches to the ring and from behind The Usos attacked Finn Balor.
Roman Reigns walking to backstage but Finn Balor took out both Jimmy and Jey Uso. Then, Roman Reigns rushes back to the ring and both Finn and Reigns started brawling. Finn got upper hand but Usos came from behind and attacked him again. Roman Reigns hits the superman punch to Balor followed by splash from Jey Uso. Then, Reignd applied Guillotine Lock submission and Balor taps out. Roman Reigns stood tall with the title and Smackdown goes off air.
