WWE shocked everyone with opening “Forbidden Door” with announcing IMPACT Knockouts Champion Mickie James for the upcoming Royal Rumble match. WWE wanted to bring IMPACT Women’s tag team champions for Royal Rumble but they reportedly turn down the offer.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, WWE contacted Cassie Lee and Jessica McKay for the Royal Rumble appearance but both of them didn’t feel like now it was the right time to entertain a return to WWE. Sapp also noted that The IInpsiration are happy with the current path they’ve found themselves on since joining IMPACT Wrestling.
Two former WWE stars now contracted elsewhere were offered spots in this year’s Royal Rumble, Fightful Select has learned.

Sean Ross Sapp also made it clear that this was the decision of The IInspirations (formerly known as The IIconics in WWE) and IMPACT Wrestling were willing to approve and sign off for the WWE appearance just as they did for Mickie James.
Sapp also confirmed that WWE also contacted other released talent from the past two years, not only just The IInspiration. But he didn’t mention specific names. With several spots still open for both the Women’s and Men’s Rumble matches, there should be some more surprises fkr this weekend in St. Louis as the road to WrestleMania officially kicks off.
