At WWE Day 1 event, The Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar won the WWE Championship by defeating Big E, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens and Bobby Lashley in fata 5 way. But original WWE planned Seth Rollins to win the title at Day 1 event.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer reported that The Messiah Seth Rollins was supposed to win the WWE Championship instead of Brock Lesnar at Day 1 PPV. WWE plans have changed after Roman Reigns, who was actually set to defend his Universal Title against Brock Lesnar, testing positive for the COVID-19, and Lesnar added to WWE Title match.
“The original plan to build for WrestleMania, whatever it was, changed greatly when Lesnar pinned Big E to win the WWE title to end Saturday’s show,” said Melzter. “The original scripted plan for the show was for Big E to lose the championship, but to Seth Rollins, who had tested positive for COVID-19 last week, and the champion instead lost his title to Lesnar as the result of another positive test.” (H/T: Sports Illustrated).
Currently, Brock Lesnar set to defend his WWE Championship against The Almighty Bobby Lashley at WWE Royal Rumble 2022 pay-per-view. Bobby Lashley earned the title shot after defeating Seth Rollins, Big E and Kevin Owens on fatal 4 way #1 contender match.
