It seems that WWE may have scrapped a particular tag team rule which was a quirk of Vince McMahon’s booking. For a long time, the company had put restraints on tag team wrestling. Most notably, if an illegal competitor attacked the legal person in the match, it would have resulted in an automatic Disqualification.

Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio has pointed out that this rule might no longer be in place. He stated that the six-person tag team match between Bayley, Dakota Kai and IYO W, and the team of Bianca Belair, Asuka, and Alexa Bliss at Clash at the Castle, where IYO SKY did a moonsault on Bianca Belair while not being the legal person.
This also happened in the clear view of the referee, who – apart from giving a warning – did nothing. This caused Meltzer to speculate that the rule, which was a staple of tag team wrestling under Vince McMahon, might have been revoked under Triple H’s regime.
