WrestleMania 39 is just a few days away, and it will be held at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California. Rey Mysterio, who will soon be inducted into the Hall of Fame, recently revealed the stage of his career when he plans to retire.
On the latest episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Rey Mysterio’s son, Dominik Mysterio, challenged his father to a match after pushing him to his limits. The Lucha Libre legend agreed to face his son, despite their recent disagreements. Dominik has been at odds with his father ever since he joined The Judgment Day. After Dominik making insulting remarks about his mother Angie, and sister Aalyah, Mysterio slapped him across the face and accepted his challenge.
Rey Mysterio recently had an interview with the New York Post and talked about getting inducted into the Hall of Fame Class of 2023 and how he felt when Triple H brought it up to him. Rey Mysterio, who is 48 years old, further talked about his retirement and stated that he has two years left as an in-ring competitor.
“I was pulled aside by Triple H and he mentioned to me, ‘Rey, we would love to induct you into the Hall of Fame,” Mysterio said. “It was very shocking to me. It was like, ‘Wow.’ I remember the first words that came out of my mouth were just like, ‘I’m not ready to retire.’ He’s like, ‘No, it’s not like that,'” said Mysterio.
“I think I do have a number and I want to keep it at that and my number is 50,” Mysterio said. “I’m hoping at 50 I can go ahead and say it’s been an incredible ride and I think it’s time for me to step back now.”
