What happened between Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and CM Punk on SmackDown ?
On the March 21, 2025, episode of WWE SmackDown, a significant confrontation happened between Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and CM Punk, escalating tensions on the road to WrestleMania 41.
The segment opened with Roman Reigns addressing the crowd, receiving a warm reception as he shouted “Bologna” and demanded acknowledgment. He brought up past events, claiming CM Punk “screwed” him at the Royal Rumble and that he retaliated by costing Punk a steel cage match against Rollins on WWE Raw. Reigns also brings up how Seth Rollins attempted to “kill” him at the Rumble, but he returned the favor the previous week. He then opened the floor for anyone to confront him.
Seth Rollins came out next to address Reigns. He accused Reigns of misjudging the threat Punk poses to WWE, suggesting he should have let Rollins “finish” Punk when he had the chance. Rollins noted that the real story has always been between him and Reigns, not Punk, and proposed adding “another chapter” to their rivalry.
CM Punk interrupted them. Punk countered Reigns’ narrative, arguing he didn’t screw Reigns at the Rumble since it’s an every-man-for-himself match. He also reminded Reigns that he wouldn’t have even reached the Rumble without Punk’s help in saving Reigns’ family during the 2024 WarGames match. Punk thanked Paul Heyman for “delivering” Reigns, alluding to a favor Heyman owes him, which added intrigue given Heyman’s current role as Reigns’ Wiseman and his past with Punk.
Then, Punk attacked Reigns from behind, sparking a chaotic brawl. Rollins joined the fray, initially targeting Punk, but the situation devolved into a three-way brawl. Referees and officials eventually intervened to separate them, but not before all three men pointed to the WrestleMania sign, signaling their intent to settle the score at the Grandest Stage. Later, WWE made a official announcement of this blockbuster match at WrestleMania 41.
