Aakash Chopra has raised concerns over Rishabh Pant’s mindset after another disappointing outing with the bat in IPL 2025. The former cricketer and now commentator questioned Pant’s shot selection during Lucknow Super Giants’ heavy loss to the Mumbai Indians on Sunday, April 27.
Chasing a massive 216 at the Wankhede, LSG crumbled under pressure and were bowled out for 161. Pant, who’s been struggling this season, managed just 4 runs off 2 balls before getting out cheaply again.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Chopra didn’t hold back. He pointed out that Pant hasn’t looked like himself throughout the tournament and questioned whether the LSG skipper is in the right headspace when it comes to his batting.
“The biggest story is Rishabh Pant’s. What are you doing? He hit a four off the first ball and then got out off the second ball while playing the reverse sweep again. All of us say that one shouldn’t comment on the way Rishabh Pant gets out because he scores runs like that only,” Chopra said
“However, one has to comment if he doesn’t score runs, and he hasn’t scored runs this year. I say he is a generational talent, but he has been extremely ordinary this year. The one good thing he did was that he came to bat at No. 4, but it seems like he is not in the right mental space, from the batting point of view,” he added.
