After a disappointing start to IPL 2025, losing four of their first five matches, the Mumbai Indians have turned things around in style. They picked up their fifth consecutive win on Sunday, April 27, with a dominant 54-run victory over the Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium.
Batting first, MI put up a strong total of 215/7 in their 20 overs. Ryan Rickelton led the charge at the top with a classy 58 off 32 balls, and Suryakumar Yadav followed up with a rapid 54 from just 28 deliveries. A few handy cameos down the order helped push the total past the 200 mark.
With the ball, it was the Jasprit Bumrah show. The ace pacer was on fire, finishing with figures of 4/22 and making sure LSG never really got going. Mumbai bowled them out for 161 and cruised to a comfortable win.
This victory takes MI up to 12 points, moving them into the top half of the table with a solid net run rate of +0.889. The five-time champions are now serious contenders for the playoffs. If 16 points is the magic number for qualification, they just need to win two of their remaining four matches.
And if they go all the way and win all four? That would take them to 20 points likely good enough to finish in the top two, or maybe even grab the No. 1 spot.
