Couple of weeks back, Otis brutally attacked Montez Ford on Friday Night Smackdown. Following the show, WWE issued a statement that Montez Ford was taken to local medical center and diagnosed with a partial rib fracture and torn intercostal cartilage. Here the statement issued by WWE:
“Montez Ford suffered a partial rib fracture and torn intercostal cartilage as a result of the attack by Otis. He’s being evaluated at a local medical center, and WWE Digital will follow up with any up.”

But now it seemed to a be a storyline injury to cover up the real reason behind his absence on Friday Night Smackdown. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that Montez Ford underwent a surgery this week that not related to injury.
It was also noted that it’s a ‘voluntary surgery’ that should not keep him away from the ring long time. It should be noted that story-related injuries mentioned by WWE had nothing to do with his surgery.
“It appears the injuries Ford suffered in the Otis beating on the 6/11 Smackdown were a cover story as he posted photos of him in a hospital appearing like he was getting ready for surgery on 6/24. He did get legitimate surgery, a voluntary surgery not related to an injury and not something that should keep him out of action for any significant length of time.”
Montez Ford also confirmed the news of his surgery by posting a picture of himself from the hospital via his social media account. However, positive news from this is he will not be out of action for long time and will be back soon to WWE TV.
