Recently, several NXT talents were spotted at backstage of Raw and SmackDown for training and also took part in dark matches for potential main roster call-up. Last week, Shotzi BlackHeart and Tegan Nox made their main roster debut and it was also reported that Mandy Rose moved to NXT and traded Aaliyah to red brand.

Vince McMahon made decision to call-up NXT Superstars to main roster after seeing the recent advance ticket sales for the return to touring. According to the Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, when the advances came in for upcoming WWE tour dates after the pandemic outbreak, Vince McMahon assessed the situation of saying no one new, fresh or exciting on the roster.
From then the company reportedly started scouting NXT talent at WWE Performance Center with idea of freshing the roster with new faces from black and gold brand.
It was also rumored that NXT Champion Karrion Kross and Bronson Reed will be moved to main roster soon. It was expected that more main roster call-ups will come during WWE Draft.
