The Man Becky Lynch made a surprise return at WWE Summer Slam 2021 after 15 months and also shocked the fans by defeating Bianca Belair to win the Smackdown Women’s Championship in a squash match.
According to the Andrew Zarian of Mat Men Wrestling Podcast, WWE already had plans of Becky Lynch to show up at the Summer Slam pay-per-view but winning the Smackdown Women’s Championship wasn’t part of those plans.
“I was told this was not gonna be the ending, obviously,” said Andrew Zarian. “She was gonna show up on this card. Becky Lynch was always gonna come out for this live crowd. That was not something that was last minute. The title change was the difference, that was something new. That was not planned…that was an adjustment, they made it and we’ll see where it goes on Friday.” (H/T: WrestlingNews.co)

Andrew Zarian also futher reported that WWE’s TV network partners NBC and USA Network, which broadcast Monday Night RAW in the United States, aren’t so thrilled about the news as the fact that Smackdown roster os really stacked now.
“There’s a little bit of an issue with NBC and the USA guys and the fact that this SmackDown roster is really stacked now,” said Zarian.
