WWE recently made major releases from WWE NXT and that left fans shock and wondering about what’s the next plan of WWE Boss Vince McMahon after this releases. It seems that WWE bringing major changes to the black and gold brand and a memo has been sent to NXT.
On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that Triple H and Shawn Michaels didn’t involved in the decision of making several NXT releases. That call was taken by Vince McMahon, Bruce Prichard and John Laurinaitis. He also noted that there is a feeling that lot of competitors are too small and too old.
“Paul Levesque and Shawn Michaels didn’t have anything to do with the cuts. It was done by Vince McMahon, Bruce Prichard and John Laurinaitis. The basic gist is that NXT is gonna change in some ways and they think that a lot of the competitors are too small and too old,” said Dave Meltzer.
Dave Meltzer also stated that original idea behind NXT was to find and develop new stars for WWE who can main event WrestleMania. He also noted that WWE wants more wrestlers like Roman Reigns.
It was also further noted that belief in WWE that NXT has lost the war against AEW. Now, they wanted to go in new direction with NXT and wants to develop new younger and bigger wrestlers. This is the reason why WWE made several releases from NXT last week. Meltzer also stated that a memo was sent about what WWE expecting from the NXT.
“The wording is ‘no more midgets, no one starting in their 30s, they want people who can be box office attractions and main characters,” said Dave Meltzer. (H/T: WrestlingNews)
